A walkthrough of the manuscript-to-audiobook pipeline, exactly as it works today.

  1. Upload your manuscript

    On Upload a manuscript, choose an EPUB, DOCX or PDF and confirm you own or have the rights to convert the work. The file goes straight from your browser to private storage — it does not pass through a page — so a full-length book uploads without a size ceiling to bump into. Nothing is charged at this step.

  2. We find the chapters

    Your file is parsed into chapters in the background; the screen waits and tells you when it is done. If the manuscript cannot be read at all, you are told why and nothing is charged — parsing happens before a price exists, so a bad file costs you nothing.

  3. Confirm the chapter split

    Chapter detection is a heuristic and it is sometimes wrong. Front matter — a cover page, a copyright notice, a table of contents — is flaggedso you can see what to look at, and “Remove flagged chapters” clears them in one go. Rename, merge, split or delete anything until the contents are the ones you meant. Every edit autosaves, and Undo takes back the last delete, merge, split or bulk removal.

  4. Add a cover

    Attach cover art on the same screen while the book is still in review. It is stored privately with the manuscript, and replacing it overwrites the previous file.

  5. Hear a voice, free

    Each chapter has a preview control: pick one of the 3 narration voices and listen to that chapter narrated for real, by the same engine that renders the book. Previews are free and unmetered — they never touch your credit balance, so audition every voice before you commit to one. Save your edits first: a preview always narrates what the server has stored, not an unsaved draft.

  6. See your exact quote

    There is no length tier to pick — your book's length is whatever the manuscript actually is. The exact character count is known as soon as it is parsed, so the price at the foot of the review screen is the real cost, not an estimate: 1,000 credits (~$30.00) for a 500,000-character book, at 2 credits per 1,000 characters. Chapter titles are not read aloud and are not billed. The quote re-computes as you edit, so it always prices the book you actually have, and nothing is charged until you confirm it.

  7. Get files you own

    A finished book is an M4B with chapter markers plus every chapter as its own MP3. They are yours: no exclusivity, no store lock-in, no cut of a sale — list the audiobook on Kobo, Spotify, Findaway, Patreon or your own site. Your library shows where every book is while it renders; a full-length novel is hours of audio, so you can close the tab and come back.

Cloning your own voice

Not connected to book rendering yet — books are narrated with the stock voices, and you should not buy credits expecting otherwise. The wizard itself works: at Create a voice you name the voice, record yourself reading a short consent sentence aloud, then record or upload at least 60 seconds of speech, and review. A clone costs 150 credits ($4.50) and you can keep up to 3at a time. The consent recording has to be made in the browser — it cannot be uploaded — and if you change the voice's name afterwards you will be asked to record it again, so the recording always matches the sentence we store with it.

So you are not left looking for them:

  • Confirming a quote and paying from the review screen. The screen prices your book exactly and saves every chapter edit, but the button that spends the credits is not connected to the render yet. Email ceo@theappmakerpro.com and a book will be rendered by hand rather than leaving you waiting on it.
  • Downloading your finished files from the site. There is no delivery page yet — a book that has rendered is not linked anywhere you can click. Ask and we will send them.
  • Narrating a book in a cloned voice. The cloning wizard works and the voice is yours, but book rendering uses the stock narration voices. Do not buy credits expecting otherwise.
  • Deleting a book yourself. Cloned voices can be deleted from Your voices; a book has to be deleted by hand, which we will do on request.
